Richard S. Tyler, Audiologist, Psychoacoustician is currently a Professor in Otolaryngology and in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa. His main areas of interest include tinnitus, hyperacusis and cochlear implants. He has been a visiting scholar in China, South Africa, Australia, Sweden, Poland, Germany and France. He was made an Honorary Professor in The Society of Medicine and Natural Science, at the University of Parma, Italy, (2016) for his contributions to the Cochlear Implant field. He sees tinnitus patients weekly, and hosts an annual Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Treatment Workshop. A tinnitus and hyperacusis clinic is established, and numerous clinical trials on pharmacological, counseling, sound therapy devices, cochlear implants and on vagal nerve stimulation are underway. He has published articles on signal processing hearing aids, cochlear implants and on auditory training. He continues to focus his research efforts on bilateral cochlear implants/hearing aids and tinnitus.
