Emily Coffey

Dr. Coffey studies neuroplasticity in the human auditory system using neuroimaging and machine learning. Her lab explores auditory processing, hearing-in-noise, musician advantages, aging, and training effects, with growing focus on sleep-based interventions like closed-loop auditory stimulation. Recently, the lab has been investigating misophonia—sound intolerance linked to distress—applying tools from prior work to this emerging area. The ultimate goal is to enhance auditory cognitive function and quality of life through training and sleep-based strategies.
