TA-3: Personalizing Hearing Aid Care for Teens and Adults: Real-World Listening, Real-World Tools

Speaker

This presentation explores how hearing aid care can be personalized throughout the lifespan using everyday listening information and digital tools to support listening needs and self-management. It examines how needs and abilities change from adolescence to adulthood, including differences in independence and technology readiness, as well as the impact of listening environments and communication demands. Hearing aid-connected apps and in-situ tools provide insights into listening as it happens and enable real-time adjustments to hearing aid settings. These methods go beyond clinic-based assessments to identify context-specific challenges and preferences in daily life. Key ideas include aligning support with user readiness, creating accessible digital interfaces, and incorporating these insights into clinical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on person-centred, collaborative care to optimize the use of hearing technology and enhance outcomes across the lifespan.
